forgiveness on Family - It has been less than a week since Victoria Flores Zavala last saw her youngest sons alive.

Police said the boys’ father, Isidro Zavala, strangled the boys last Saturday, telling his estranged wife she would be forced to suffer their loss. Then he killed himself.

But the Boynton Beach mother seems ready to forgive.

During Friday’s funeral services for Eduardo, 12, Marco, 11 and Isidro Zavala, 45, Victoria Zavala made no mention of the tragedy, choosing instead to remember the good things — Eduardo’s dreams of becoming a famous chef, Marco’s mischievous personality and Isidro’s willingness to provide for his family.

“Today, I choose to extend the forgiveness that exists in Jesus Christ,” Victoria Zavala said during her first public appearance since her children and husband were killed.

Ivette Eligio, the boys’ older cousin, also told friends and relatives gathered at Christ Fellowship Church in Royal Palm Beach that just as Eduardo and Marco had taught them many lessons during life, they continue to do so in death.

“As a last hoorah, they’re trying to teach us how to forgive,” Eligio said.
